  1. Awesome infographic Eddie. Of course, the problem for me is producing content that will go viral.

I have had that happen to a few posts, but they are few and far between, unfortunately.

I am planning on experimenting with document marketing more in the future. We’ll see how it goes.

    Mark

    • Mark here is the trick. You can hire a professional from ODesk to write an article that would stand out. Remember if all your posts went viral, then viral would become a norm. Experimenting with different techniques mashing them up and coming up with a new way is all about marketing. Wish you the best, would love to hear how things work out.

  2. Hi Eddie,

I have never understood viral marketing, and I have never experience anything gone viral. I’ve read many posts and even some books about it, and from what I understand it’s very heard to plan something to go viral and even though that there’s a cheat sheet (and your infographic is awesome), there are no guarantee that your blog posts will go viral.

    • There are various elements that determines the virility of a post or a page. I’ve read several books and experts talk about it, but let me tell you that there are three key elements that you have to focus on for a post to go viral.

      1. Time
      2. Content/Image/Page – 110%
      3. Trend

Only if all these three things come into play your post is going viral. Its got nothing to do with blogging or how to market. Its all about the info you share on the page. Thanks for your comments and glad you like the inforgraphic.

This is a great infographic and some great advice and points are shared! I agree mostly with the point about not being neutral or biased. Where is the excitement in that anyway? Always stay true to what you believe and no matter what people say, try not to change the way you feel. :)

    • Hi Gabriella, good to see you back here sharing your views via comments. Thanks and appreciate that. Good to hear that the infographic was useful.

  4. Great post. I’ve had good luck with StumbleUpon because I write a lot about current celebrity news. My snarky and more controversial posts get a lot more page views (as well as new followers and comments) than the serious posts I write about postpartum depression and anxiety.

    • Thanks for stopping by leaving your comment on my blog. Thats really good to hear Carri that you are benefiting from SU. Wish you the best, would love to connect with you on SU.

  5. Yes, really great post.
Amazing infographic as the same person – Mark said.
You are a bloging Master Eddie.
I’ d better come here more often to learn more thing with you
    Thanks.

  6. What I believe is if content is king then SEO is queen. But I never concentrate on short lived post. But to attract more visitors we should write both evergreen and short lived post.

  7. I know I’m late to the party on this post, but the biggest help I’ve found in generating popular posts is realizing that they don’t have to go right on my sites. Of course, getting ALL the link juice for myself would be great, but since it’s so hard to know what will take off (if anything), I like getting base hits and guest posting on authoritative sites, so at least I get the juice from that site, and hopefully some additional traffic when people follow me or click to the destination I provide in the attribution. Not nearly as sexy, but a great return on the effort in the long run.

Also, I’ve found that I am more likely to write something that becomes popular if I let my ideas wander and follow the idea, not my own content needs that fit the particular site. In other words, if I run with the idea THEN find the right blog to host it, I often come up with better ideas!

Great stuff here. Keep it up.
